Masscure of the Innocents
Greetings! Sorry that I haven't been able to update the blog since I was in shock of a very sad masscure. In the United States, a school called Sandy Hook has just witnesed a very sad masscure. 26 people were shot dead, 20 children. 6-7 years old. Who would be so awful enough to do this awful act? Why? Leaders from around the world- Pope Bendict XVI, Queen Elizabeth, and the Leader of Germany is sick of this awful masscure. In honor of them, no posts will be made til Friday. Plus, this week's biography is omited since it's almost Christmas and I want to tell you the story...

| Is it him? |
Demosthenes was a Greek statesmen that loved throught the 4th century B.C. Was born about 384 B.C. Not much about his personal life is known. Yet, his stuttering is well known. Whenether Demosthenes started to sppech, he was ashamed of himself, for he sounded funny. in order to reduce this, he practiced speaking with peebles. Reciting versus while he ran, and talk loudly above the waves so that he won't stutter. The effects of him stuttering were- shortness of breath and breaking/disordering the sentence that he spoke. Sadly he didn't live long, in 322 B.C., while running away from soldiers of Alexander the Great, he committed sucide .( He lead a revolt agaist Alexander the Great and it fell.)

My Average Day
Since I have been running my blog for a while, you may ask- "What is his average day like?" Well, that's what today's post is ( for Friday is the weekly biography.). My average day is like this,- I wake up at 5:30 in the mourning and go up. After I sit for 5 minutes ( during that time my cat, Ms. Kitty comes in, most of the time) I have breakfast. Than I get ready for school. Most of the time I'm at school by 7 A.M. since I arrive an hour earlier that most students, I work on this blog, or projects that are due, or just have fun and play games. After the 7:45 bell rings, if it's Days 1&4, I go up to the office and say pledge. If I don't have to do that, than I got to my homeroom for Math, my teacher is Ms. Wendy Bradfield (who put up my blog for the world.) Than we do Math til 9:35. Than we go to Enrichment, and during that time we either go to Ms. Pam (school libarian) and Ms. Michelle Colson (Ms. Shell, as we call her, and 8th grade teacher.) Than until 10:20 we have stuff to do. Than I go on to Second Block, and I have Reading and Language with Mr.Smith (teacher, and vice-principal of school.) Than on whatever day it is, I go to lunch at different times. Than we have reccess. Than we go to Encore ( Guidence, Libary, P.E. and Computer Lab.) After Encore, we end the day with Science and History with Ms. Shell. Than, i go help Ms. Pam in the libary. On Mondays, I go to Beta Club. for the rest of the week I get ready for Monday.
P.S- Due to this week's life, next week I will post two biographies. To make up for this week's lost.

Lewis Carroll
Greetings world. Before I get into this week's biography, let me tell you one thing. I can finally accesss my blog at school! I'm so happy now! Now I can show my friends what my blog is like (yet, I must change my picture, so what I must, I must....)
Now today's biography will be Lewis Carroll. Do you know who Lewis Carroll is? Well, Lewis Carroll was the writer for the "Alice in Wonderland" books.(His real name was- Charles Lutwidge Dodgson). Yet, he was a stutter as well. Lewis Carroll aquitted his stuttering problem when he was a child and he had it for the rest of his life. It has been said that he only stuttered with aduilts, and yet was fluent and free with children. Most aduilts actually didn't notice it at all. Lewis said that he was something simular to the dodo in "Alice in Wonderland." since he had some difficulty saying his last name. Although, this speaking disorder bothered him that didn't stop him from being with society and having a good future(Something simular to me.) Another thing about him is a mystery- at least 7 volumes and 13 pages from his 13 journals are missing and his family is not saying a thing.

What causes Stuttering?
Greetings everyone. Did you all enjoy your Thanksgiving break? Now, today I will talk to you about a question that we stutters always have on our minds- What causes Stuttering? No one knows what really causes it, but the most popular theory is that is a gene that skips a generation. Yet, I found some weird and disturbing facts on this question. My quest on this question started back to the Ancient Romans. During the Roman period, a scientist by the name of Galen said that stuttering was caused by four fluids in the body (yellow bile, blood, black vile and phlegm) being inbalenced. During the 1500's, Hieronymus Mercurilalis suggested that in order to reduce this inbalence that people would have to have changes in diet, less lovemaking (for men only), and vomiting. (Ew! Thank Heavens I was not eating.)
Around the 1700&1800's in Europe, doctors suggested that in order to reduce stuttering that people would have to take their tongue out with scissors, removing the posterior tongue, cutting nerves, neck and lip muscles. They even took out your tonsils and uvula. (I'm glad that they don't do that today.) Italian pantholigist Giovanni Morgagni suggested that stuttering was attributred to your hyroid bone. Cures were to be said from drinking water from a snail's shell to hitting a stutter in the face. Today most people agree that stuttering can't be gone from your lives, but you can have stuttering therapy to reduce it. So, the quest for what causes stuttering contunies to this day....

Thanksgiving
Unfortunately, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. I won't be able to update the blog but once and that maybe either Monday or Tuesday... Any who, today's topic will be over the upcoming holiday of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was first celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621.Thanksgiving was a time to give thanks to Indians who helped them survive, and be thankful for the season's crops. The chief of the Indians that helped the pilgrims brought 90 Indians with him to the feast. The feast also included games, hunting rounds, and relaxation. The feast was made up of deer, turkey, fish, salmon, eel, lobster, wild fruits, berries, etc.
Thanksgiving was not made an actually holiday until a woman by the name of Sarah Josepha Hale wrote to President Lincoln in 1863 asking for Thanksgiving to be a national holiday. Lincoln had the holiday set up on the fourth Thursday in November. That's how Thanksgiving was born. So you can thank a woman for making Thanksgiving a holiday.

Moses
Today, I start the weekly biography series. The first one is that of Moses. Scholars now think, that Moses whenether he spoke, he stuttered. Evidence suggest that Moses, when he spoke to God, he had a stuttering problem and that he was afriad to talk. So, when Moses went to Egypt to free the Hebrews, God made Moses' brother- Aaron his spokesperson. The book of Exodus also points out that Moses did in fact have a stuttering problem. This problem was solved when God put a burning coal into his mouth, so that way his speech could be slow and heistant.

Make You Feel My Love- Adele
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzmTFBPMhk8
"When the rain is blowing in your face,
and the whole world is on your case,
I could offer you a warm embrace
to make you feel my love.
When the evening shadows and the stars appear,
and there is no one there to dry your tears,
I could hold you for a million years
to make you feel my love.
I know you haven't made your mind up yet,
but I would never do you wrong.
I've known it from the moment that we met,
no doubt in my mind where you belong.
I'd go hungry; I'd go black and blue,
I'd go crawling down the avenue.
No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
to make you feel my love.
The storms are raging on the rolling sea
and on the highway of regret.
Though winds of change are blowing wild and free,
you ain't seen nothing like me yet.
I could make you happy, make your dreams come true.
Nothing that I wouldn't do.
Go to the ends of the Earth for you,
to make you feel my love,
Enjoy! See another post on later today or early tommrow!
Today, I will start on my biography series. But, before I do that post, let me make a quick detour about an intestring video I saw this mourning as I was working on the blog. I will tell you about the video that I saw. It's the lyrics to- "Make You Feel My Love." it's by Adele. It shows the song lyrics while it shows scenes of the Earth. it's my favorte Adele song lyric type video. for those who can't access Youtube, I have the lyrics below-

Biography Time
I have decided to start next week, a hopefully weekly biography of a famous stutter. If I can, I may even do two per week. I'm just so busy with a Joan of Arc paper that I often don't have time to update my blog, so I must wait and wait until I have a free day. hopefully, in the near feature I can have more time to this blog. See you in a week!
Furstration!
Urg! What a day that I'm having right now. First, my blog is taking forever to load. Why must I have days like these, (When I feel like I'm going to hit someone on the head with a Candlestick!) Second, I'm worried about my research paper. For, I am typing an paper over Joan of Arc, and yet the title page doesn't want to work with me. So I just want to throw this forbidden computer out of the window. So wish me luck!

Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween everyone! Sorry that it has been a while since I last updated the blog! I gave a speech yesterday at the Rotary Club, and it was over stuttering. The people was very pleased with the speech. They couldn't stop thanking me. So today, for the holiday let me say one thing- Halloween is a special time to be someone that you aren't usually are. So get out there and enjoy yourselves, and remember to have a good time at your parties. And remember- "Happy Halloween!"

Are people that stutter being made fun of in Society?
Introduction: Hello, My name is Joshua Laster. I am a 15 year old, and in the 8th grade. Yes, I am a stutterer. My therpist thought up of this blog idea, and let me say, best idea ever! Now, the world can see on how I live my daily life with a rare speaking disorder. So, enjoy this blog!
Some people may think that a person who stutters, is a person who is no good toward society and has no place among other people. In my defence, really people who stutter are just about the same as me. Although sometimes, I hear people talk behind my back about the way that I talk, do I ignore them? Yes I do! I'm a stutterer but do I let negative people take over my speaking? No, I just simply push it aside and go on with my life. A person who stutters (just like me) can be just as normal. The only difference is that they speak different. Yet, so much prejudice goes around that it makes my blood cold toward the people who are unfair, and so mean toward people in society.
Yet, I find that a few people are so nice toward people like me. They seem to understand on how people like us can live with speech problems and live a normal life. Although, there is no cure for stuttering. I am ready to live a normal life and I can accept it, no matter what people say.
